Toggle Recoil

toggle recoil

I always adapt my work according to every single animal.

One of the techniques I also use is Toggle Recoil.

This technique is chiropractic and gentle technique with high velocity (it is a measure of how fast something moves in a particular direction).
This technique results in both a mechanical and neurological action. The aim is to correct the tissue dysfunction which will correct the articular dysfunction.

The practitioner places his hands (pisiform for horses thumbs on small animals) lightly on the area of joint restriction and then performs an extremely fast, though very light thrust, quickly removing his hands from the contact point.

Mechanoreceptors are involved in the correction (Mechanoreceptor is a sensory receptor that responds to mechanical pressure or distortion).
The local lack of mobility generates oedema and congestion, which modify the properties of periarticular tissues, thus participating in the reduction of mobility.
