Why You Should Not Feel Guilty To Work Your Horse With Arthritis
This is not always obvious to think that your horse should work despite its arthitis however it does help him to maintain his good condition, flexibility and to avoid stiffness and lack of muscles.
Work improves blood circulation, nourishes the skin and coat and supports/ protects the joints and protects their flexibility by building up muscles.
Work helps irrigate cartilage and therefore renew it. Work helps to stop the development of osteoarthritis, to stay healthy and cheer your horse up again!
Every horse is unique and light, moderate work is recommended in order to avoid traumatic movements.
As always, a 20-25 minute warm-up, 10-minute cool-down, stretching, massages, soft techniques help a lot.
And if you look for natural remedies, see below my recommendations:
- Rosehip powder as an anti-inflammatory agent.
- Green-lipped mussel powder from New Zealand reinforces the circulatory system (blood vessels, heart) and supports the operation of the red blood cells in order to improve the supply of oxygen to the various parts of the body in which one also increases the immune system.
- Tumeric is very well known to reduce pain, inflammation and stiffness.
- Homeopathy.
- And Shiatsu as a preventative treatment.
